Electric Stimulation
This intervention is a specific type of acupuncture treatment where the needles are inserted as in a traditional treatment, but a small electrode is attached to them. This electrode provides a gentle vibration that stimulates the qi running through these points. It is often very soothing to the patient, providing a soft humming and, essentially, a more fluid treatment.
Cupping
This intervention is most commonly used in Sports Medicine and Pain Management. Small cups are placed on the skin and a suction effect elicits the healing response. Cupping helps reorganize fascia to soothe pain and increase range of motion. Cupping will leave small circles on the skin for a few days but is completely painless.
Gua Sha
A more intense intervention than cupping. Oil is applied to the skin, and a specialized Jade tool is pressed and dragged along the muscles to reorganize the fascial planes, increase blood flow and range of motion, and reduce pain. Gua Sha is used in pain management, sports medicine, post-bacterial/viral infections, and cosmetic facial care.
Moxibustion
The application of heat over needles or areas of pain. Mugwort, a very common botanical, is burned to create heat. Moxa has been used for a variety of maladies, but is commonly used in OBGYN, fertility, insomnia, and anxiety/depression treatments.
Tuina
Ear Seeds
Acupuncture
This intervention can be used to treat most maladies. Small needles are placed in highly specialized locations (depending on the person and the illness) to illicit the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Acupuncture is safe and highly effective.
